I was approached by an agent, on behalf of a film production company, inviting my cats to participate in an advertisement for Ikea.

At first I was asked for
1 Sphynx and 5 Ragdolls.
This ended up as 7 Sphynx and 48 Ragdolls (including kittens) on Set.

It was a mammoth exercise.......................But fun ! !
Above... Unloading the car & getting ready to enter the building. All filming for the advertisement was done at night. The catering van was at the ready & kept producing fantastic food all night long. Filming was in Wembley & the cats were all moved to a half way house hotel. We took over 6 rooms and Caught-up on sleep during the day.
Below... Unloading and setting up pens for the cats to rest within. Large pens were erected and covered over. Everything was done for the cats comfort, allowing for a place to rest and somewhere for them to play. Runners and security were also provided. The cats were never left unattended by runners. Security was also very good.......

Muffin after being vetted in. All cats & kittens are seen & examined by a vet upon arrival. They are tested for carrying feline flu,  swabbed for further infections & examined for skin lesions/infections, including ring-worm.
The vet is also present every step of the way, he is there to watch the shoots, observe for fatigue or distress etc during filming. The cats general behaviour & responce to this stressful situation is a vast consideration, they also all get vetted out.

After vetting in each cat/kitten is 'cataloged'.

This was  painstaking and involved Row (my sister) having to hold and present each and every cat / kitten to the camera... (= 48 times) & more !!

More cats were needed, I called dear friends Andy and Jay, they show Phat Paws Ragdolls & are Breeders of Excellence for the Turkish Van.

Sound and screen tests begin.

Getting on to set. Convoys of Ragdolls are moved up to the set. Depending on the shot needed, depended on which cats had to be where/there and when....

Not only were we filming an advertisement, there was a parallel shoot re a documentary.

This is about 'Me and My cats':
Breeding, showing, living with and doing film work. How the breeds re trained for this etc, etc & other TV shoots.....

More about this can be seen on the 'HOME SHOOT' Page.

Directors Testimonial

I was approached by IKEA to co-ordinate an advertisement campaign, which required a large number of cats.  In my search many cat owners and breeders were reluctant to participate,  due to the perceived difficulties in taking part in such a long and complicated shoot.

Luckily for me I discovered Roz, who instantly appreciated what we were trying to do and committed herself and her 'entourage' in assisting us.

When Roz and 'her people' arrived on set they were incredibly helpful, hardworking and never flagged on what was a long and tiring three days.

The cats Roz provided were absolutely first class Ragdolls and Sphinxes and Roz ensured all the cats all had excellent caging and runs to get exercise. The level of consistent care her cats received was beyond my conception.

In short I can recommend Roz as not only an excellent provider/breeder of cats but also a pleasure to work with and I look forward to another shoot with her in the future.
